Bay County Health Department Celebrates National Breastfeeding Month

Big Latch On event to be held on Saturday, August 3 at 10:30 am
Panama City, Fla. — The Bay County Health Department will host a Big Latch On event sponsored by Breastfeed Bay: The Breastfeeding Task Force of Bay County and surrounding areas on August 3, 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the Bay County Health Department, 597 W 11th Street, Panama City in the Auditorium. The Big Latch On will take place at 10:30 am when multiple worldwide locations will attempt to set the world record for the most babies breastfeeding at the same time. Information, local support resources and door prizes will also be available.
“It takes a village and we all have an important role when it comes to supporting breastfeeding. Knowing where to find local breastfeeding resources is a critical,” said Sandy McCroan, Internarial Board Certified Lactation Consultant for WIC at DOH-Bay.
The Big Latch On celebration coincides with National Breastfeeding Month. This year’s theme is Support Changes Everything. Support can include; parents and partners, workplace and work life, as well as family and community.
The Bay County Health Department will be hosting a free worksite wellness training, Work Well, on Wednesday, September 4 from 8 – 11:30 am. Training will include the Business Case for Breastfeeding and you will learn how to support breastfeeding mothers in the workplace.
