SWIMMING ADVISORY ISSUED FOR WATSON BAYOU

September 04, 2019

Raw sewage spill removes suspension of Watson Bayou advisory

Panama City, Fla. –A swimming advisory is reissued for Watson Bayou in Panama City following a raw sewage spill of approximately 1,800 gallons. A repair completed on a gravity line main in the storm water ditch came apart. This caused the untreated sewage to enter the ditch and empty into Watson Bayou.

Sewage contamination of water can expose bathers to intestinal viruses, bacteria, and parasites.

The Florida Department of Health in Bay County advises against swimming in Watson Bayou until further notice.
