City of Panama City reports water is now safe
Panama City, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Bay County (DOH-Bay) is rescinding an advisory for Watson Bayou. This included Business 98 north to 8th Street.
The original release sent Monday, November 18 was due to a lift station malfunction at 803 E 14th Street in Panama City. The release entered Watson Bayou. Clean up actions are complete.
Sewage contamination of water can expose swimmers to intestinal viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Swimming in the water may cause symptoms like food poisoning with vomiting and diarrhea. Infection is possible in open cuts and wounds that come in contact with the water.
