On-Site Sewage Treatment and Disposal System (OSTDS)
Properly operating on-site sewage disposal systems are vital to the protection of surface water and potable water wells. The goal of the OSTDS program is to make sure that all new or repaired septic systems will meet the requirements of64E-6*Florida Administrative Code and function properly. With this goal in mind, the Environmental Health Division of the Florida Department of Health in Bay County provides assistance with proposed as well as existing structures or even development of new subdivisions. In response to each type of application, two soil profiles, a site plan, and floor plan review are performed. System design specifications are then set and permits are then issued.
The Environmental Health Division provides limited same day septic system permitting on an appointment basis. This customer focused service will be provided to all contractors, agents and applicants who submit a complete application package. Please call (850) 481-4812 to make an appointment or stop by the Environmental Health office at 225 McKenzie Ave, Panama City, Florida, 32401. In addition, to benefit you, your client and this department, you may wish to turn in your complete application at least one day prior to your scheduled appointment.
If you do not have a complete application, you’re unsure if your application is complete, or you require additional assistance, an appointment can be made by calling the above listed phone number or visiting our office and speak with one of our staff.
