Sandy K. Martin, MBA

Sandy has been with the Department of Health since 2008. She began her public health career serving as Public Health Preparedness Planning Consultant for Jackson, Calhoun, and Gulf counties where she authored preparedness plans and coordinated disaster response activities. In 2013, she moved to DOH-Gulf serving as Chief Executive Officer of a robust health center providing care in an underserved area. She progressed to Senior Public Health Services Manager in 2016 serving both DOH-Gulf and DOH-Franklin directing all financial activities and business office functions. Sandy is the recipient of a 2018 Prudential Productivity Award for her role in the development and implementation of a telephone system spanning both county health departments that increased productivity and customer satisfaction while reducing costs.  

Sandy is the Health Officer co-chair for the Florida Department of Health Preparedness Program Council. She has responded to public health threats throughout Florida including communicable diseases and numerous natural disasters providing guidance to healthcare systems during emergency response operations.  

Sandy received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida and a Master of Business Administration from Florida State University. A Florida panhandle native, she is committed to building local partnerships to further meet the needs of its citizens. Her professional philosophy is leading by example to foster a climate that encourages and promotes employee excellence and to address the public health needs of community stakeholders through strategic planning.
