DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN BAY COUNTY PROVIDES COVID-19 UPDATE, ANNOUNCES 13 CONFIRMED CASES OF COVID-19

Panama City, Fla.— Bay County’s total diagnosed COVID-19 cases now stands at 188. This includes 178 Bay County residents and 10 non-Florida resident cases. The Florida Department of Health in Bay County (DOH-Bay) received confirmation of 13 additional cases of COVID-19. These include a 24-year-old male, a 38-year-old female, a 54-year-old female, a 57-year-old female, a 33-year-old female, a 30-year-old male, a 23-year-old female, a 35-year-old male, a 34-year-old male, a 67-year-old female, a 20-year-old female, a 50-year-old female, and a 50-year-old female. Ten are Bay County residents, three are non-Florida residents.  


DOH-Bay is conducting the contact investigation and working to identify and notify individuals who need to self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days. Contact investigations are a critical way for staff epidemiologists to track and prevent the spread of disease.


Bay County’s overall COVID-19 positive testing rate is 3 percent. Of the 6,312 tests processed, 6,119 tests are negative. Four Bay County residents, or 2 percent of all positive Bay County cases, have died from COVID-19. A total of 23 Bay County residents, or 13 percent of all cases, have been hospitalized with COVID-19.

DOH-Bay is now testing anyone with symptoms of COVID-19. For screening, please call DOH-Bay at (850) 872-4455 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and follow the prompts. Testing is by appointment only. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, new loss of taste or smell, vomiting or diarrhea, and/or sore throat.


The Florida Department of Health also offers a list of long-term care facilities in Florida associated with COVID-19 cases and provides real-time data about active cases and number of deaths in each facility.


The Florida Department of Health also provides a  COVID-19 dashboard updated daily at 10 a.m. as well as a report detailing surveillance data for every Florida county, available at FloridaHealthCOVID19.gov. 


The Florida Department of Health (DOH) publishes antibody COVID-19 test results data weekly. The report contains county, race and lab information on antibody COVID-19 tests conducted in Florida.
