OUR GOALS

Preventing initiation of tobacco use among youth and young adults.

Policy to Restrict the Sale of Flavored Tobacco Products not covered by FDA

Flavored cigarettes (except for menthol) were banned by the FDA in 2009, but other flavored tobacco products were not.  We are raising public awareness of this deceptive marketing practice to lure youth into trying tobacco.

Policy to Counteract Tobacco Product Marketing at the Point of Sale

The continuing high rates of youth tobacco use and the vast sums spent on tobacco marketing are directly related and highly effective at enticing youth to use tobacco products.

Policy to Implement Tobacco Control Model Policies in K-12 Schools

Tobacco Free Florida developed a Tobacco Control Policies Model for K-12 Schools covering 13 critical areas of policy and enforcement for school districts to utilize for guidance.

Promote Cessation from Tobacco Use

Policy to Increase Use of Cessation Services
Increasing the number of employers that offer access to cessation services to their employees
is a benefit to both the employee and employer.

Eliminate Secondhand Smoke Exposure

Policy to Create Smoke-Free Multi-Unit Dwellings
Multi-unit housing communities have unique challenges in avoiding second and third-hand smoke since air travels between apartments through ventilation, walls, electrical plugs, etc.

Support Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT)

The Tobacco Free Partnership supports the Bay County SWAT chapter in our community and schools with the coordination of events and training.  SWAT members educate their peers and community about the dangers of tobacco use and manipulative tobacco company tactics.

Join us at our next quarterly meeting!

The community is welcome and encouraged to attend. You can help us make a difference!
